Want to have a say in the COVID-19 vaccine survey?

Reply before 11:59 PM Monday, October 26.
The survey takes 20 minutes to complete. As part of creating a plan for how to prioritize COVID-19 vaccine distribution when one becomes available, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) wants feedback from the community—especially those communities, partners, workers, businesses, and sectors that are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. The survey includes questions that will help DOH understand how you are feeling about the COVID-19 vaccine, as well as who you think should get priority for the vaccine.

Ready for Cold Weather/Winter Weather?

Need help prepping for the change in the weather? Our volunteers can help with some items that may be on your list - email or call your Services Team. Here are some bigger areas you may have in mind (and with how busy many home service companies are for gutter clean out and home repairs, it's time to schedule sooner vs. later):
  • Home maintenance. Get your home’s heating system checked and serviced, make sure the gutters are cleared out and schedule small home maintenance repairs before they become problems. NOTE: Volunteers can check your smoke and CO2 (carbon monoxide) detectors.
  • Wardrobe. Are your winter weather items in good condition and within easy reach when the cold sets in? Check your boots/shoes to make sure they are still weather-tight and can grip well to avoid slipping on ice.
  • Car maintenance. Is your vehicle fully serviced and winter-ready? Before color weather arrives — check oil, wiper blades, tires and the battery. Ensure that your roadside assistance service is up-to-date and carry an emergency kit to in your vehicle (not in the trunk).
  • Home provisions. Stock up with non-perishable foods and bottled water to eliminate trips during bad weather. Also, stock up on common over-the-counter medications.

Fall Back: Daylight Savings Ends November 1

Time to wind it all back again by setting your non-digital devices back one hour.
Daylight savings time ends on November 1 at 2 AM.

Time to Scrap That Old Wood Stove?

Through the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency’s Wood Stove Program, Snohomish County residents can receive $350 for recycling their old, polluting wood stove. Eligible devices include wood stoves and fireplace inserts that are not U.S. EPA certified. Your old device must be in working order but can be installed or uninstalled for the recycling reward. Residents of Snohomish County wanting to upgrade to new, cleaner heat can instead opt to have their old wood stove or fireplace insert scrapped in exchange for a $1,500 discount to go toward the purchase and professional installation of new heating equipment.
