Looking at the weeks ahead, let’s continue to find ways we can help one another as we comply with the Governor’s orders and apply common sense to keep us all safe, both physically and mentally.  We request your responses and ideas on the following:
* NNN Directory
* Walking
* Sharing stuff
* Online assistance
* Proposed discussion groups

NNN Directory
While initial phone/email visits are ramping up, we are hearing that it would be good to be able to contact others in NNN for a spur-of-the-moment conversation or to plan safe “events.” (More on that below.)

One step we are taking is to make it easier for us to contact one another.  To do this, we are making the NNN Directory available to those who have login access to the NNN webpages. Only NNN members and volunteers can see the NNN Directory.

Before we open up the directory, we would like to hear from each of you.  Each person can control what information is in their own directory entry.   The default will be to list: Your name, city, email address, and phone numbers. You can change what is shown for your entry at any time.

To get started, you can let us know what your initial preference is and we will set up your entry for you.  If we do not hear from you before April 10th, your entry will have the default set of information.

Please reply to this email to let us know your choice:
1. List all of the above
2. List only Name, City, Phone number (not email address)
3. List only Name, City, Email address (not phone numbers)
4. List only name and city
5. List only name
6. Do not list in the directory

Walking
We are going to continue the suspension of NNN group walks.  However, walking outside is still a very strongly advised activity as long as we remain vigilant.

Would you like to find one or more walking buddies with whom you can walk?  If so, please let us know and we will add you to the NNN Walking Buddies Group. To join, you must promise to
* Not walk if you are exhibiting any symptoms of cold, flu, or COVID-19
* Observe the six-foot distance at all times
* Find places to walk where it is easy to maintain distance
* Recommended: Wear a cloth over your face if there is any likelihood of the 6-foot distance being compromised even briefly

Sharing stuff
We are hearing that some folks are running out of books to read, jigsaw puzzles to work,  or DVDs to watch.  Others have one-off needs that cannot be met by shopping right now.  So we are setting up a NNN lending library.  Let us know if you have a need and/or things you would like to lend or give away.  We will pick up and deliver, observing safety protocols.

Assistance with online challenges
If you have a computer or smartphone and would like help setting up any of the following, let us know and we will see if we can help you get started with:
* Online face-to-face discussions with family and friends
* Access to the libraries movies
* Ordering food delivery online
* Other needs

Online discussion groups
Is there a topic of interest, something you have enjoyed in the past or would like to start, that you think might be pursued by an online group?  If so, let us know and we will help you get started.  Some suggestions might be:
* Book club (the NNN book club will be online this month)
* Coping with staying home
* Current events (if there are any other than COVID-19)
* Caregiver support
* Games one can play on the computer or phone
* You name it!

In closing
We hope everyone is finding ways to not just cope, but also benefit from this time when many of our usual activities are curtailed.  Please know that NNN is here for you and will do what we can to help.
